So today after our staff meeting i walk out to find one of my munchkins standing by the office visible upset. I walk over and ask her quietly what is wrong.
"I... bit... someone..."
Buh!?
So apparently someone* wouldn't stop bugging this girl and she finally had enough and bit him.
What happened to the good ol' fashioned slug to the face? I'll tell ya what happened. Two Words.

Monday Morning
Morning all. It is Monday and that means a return to the pen. I have my one little one coming back today. He is the class show off and has been down in fourth grade for about 2 weeks because of attitude and misbehavior. We shall see what happens.
My plan of attack is to mimic what he got in 4th grade. He will sit right next to my desk and have to earn any privileges.
Changing gears, this week starts ISTEP. For the non-Indiana folks, that is the Indiana Stop Testing Effectively Program. I am no fan of the current models of standardized testing and look forward to the switch to a growth model instead.
Well I am out of time. Duty calls.

Casual Friday
Good Morning!
It's Friday and that means casual wear day at the Elementary. Ya know its funny, Casual wear day ends up being like a living commercial for those "mom" jeans from the SNL skit. But your not gonna hear me saying that out loud in the hallowed halls of the school building. No way. Those women outnumber us men like 12:1.
So you might be wondering who I am and what this is. Well in the world of teaching and all it entails one has multiple experiences that they can laugh about with a coworker or two but are not allowed to let any of these happenstances float out of the front door and across the playground for fear of reprimand. So I'm starting this here and will soon move to an anonymous account so I can share these with the world.
By the time anyone besides my wife sees this I will be known as nothing more than "sensei". Sensei is the Japanese word for teacher or any form of mentor or higher up. I claim not to be a great teacher of the masses but am working my way through this spring in the 5th grade. I'll let you know more about myself (the little you'll ever know) tomorrow.
But for now, it's off to casual Friday!
